Queechy Lake Club’s primary objective is to preserve and protect the beauty and purity of Queechy Lake. The Club was organized in 1918 and incorporated as a membership organization a year later. In 2001 it became a non-profit corporation.

Queechy Lake is recognized as one of the cleanest lakes in New York State, and the Lake’s quality has not changed appreciably since 1935. We feel proud of the Club’s role in this achievement.

Joining the Club allows you to support the lake and meet others in the community interested in the lake’s preservation. We are an active organization, sponsoring or supporting the following:

The Annual Queechy Lake Boat Parade

Started in 1976 as a Parade of ”Small Ships” this event is held on the Saturday closest to July 4th and helps kick off each summer season. Lake residents decorate their boats and compete for awards in a number of categories. The parade is heralded by the local media as an event that, ”should not be missed!”

Representation at the Annual New York State Federation of Lakes (FOLA)

Two or more members regularly attend this annual meeting to stay abreast of issues and solutions that are important to our Lake and our quality of life.

An Active Lake Quality Committee

The Club’s lake quality committee conducts on-going sampling of the lake for water quality and makes reports at our annual meeting.

Boat Safety Course

This course is designed to teach young boaters safe practices and enables children between 10 and 14 to legally operate a powerboat. The course is offered free of charge to Columbia Country residents with an Honorarium paid by the Club to the instructor.

Shore Line Clean Up

In August of each year we clean up the shoreline along Queechy Lake Drive. In this event students from the Berkshire Farm Center often join us.

Welcome Back flyer

Distributed at the beginning of the summer, our annual flyer provides a calendar of    events and activities along with practices you can follow to help us protect the lake.
